NEWBERRY – Jordan Monosky’s 6-1, 6-2 win in the fifth flight propelled the nationally-ranked Wolves past Coker 5-4 in a conference matchup Thursday afternoon.
Angel Pizarro and Nikhil Mannepalli were the only victors for the Wolves in doubles action coming away with the tight 8-7 decision in the No. 2 spot. Coker prevailed in the other two matches to take the 2-1 edge at the end of doubles play.
Newberry mounted a comeback in singles competition amassing four consecutive wins to walk away with their fourth conference victory of the season. The rally began in the third flight with Mannepalli picking up a close 6-0, 7-6 decision followed by No. 2 Jose Navarro winning 6-4, 7-6 to tie it up 3-3.
A pair of points from Pizarro and Monosky sealed the match for the Wolves with Pizarro notching the 6-4, 6-2 victory.
