Wolves bested by Lincoln Memorial

NEWBERRY — Newberry’s comeback fell short as the Railsplitters pulled off the 6-3-win Friday afternoon at the Oakland Tennis Center.

After sweeping doubles competition, Lincoln Memorial headed into singles play with the clear advantage. The Wolves were resilient with Jose Navarro picking up Newberry’s first point in a two-set 6-4, 6-4 win in the second flight. Lincoln Memorial would take the next point, but a pair of victories including a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 tiebreaker from No. 5 Jordan Monosky and a 7-5, 6-4 win from Nikhil Mannepalli put the Wolves dangerously close at 4-3.

However, the Railsplitters won the final two points of the match to take the conference win.
