WHITMIRE — The Whitmire Wolverines dropped their second straight non-region game by a score of 9-2 against Landrum. Chase Hood (1-2) was the losing pitcher, despite having his best overall outing of the season. He struck out five in 4.1 IP. Several errors hurt the Wolverine’s cause. Casey Stevens (one for one, two BB) and Bailey Holloman (one for three) each drove in runs for Whitmire. Whitmire was also plagued by strikeouts as Cardinal pitchers combined for 14 Ks.

“We gave them way too many base runners that did not have to hit to get on. We have got to remain focused on doing things the right way until the end of the game. Lack of focus cost us any opportunity to win the game,” said Head Coach Chris Martin.

Whitmire fell to Mid-Carolina by a score of 13-0 last week. Casey Stevens (1-3) took the loss for the Wolverines. Mid-Carolina scored five runs in the first inning and did not look back. The Wolverines settled down during the middle innings, but gave up eight runs late. The highlight of the night was the play of Senior Outfielder Quentin Aughtry. Aughtry made several dynamic catches and went one for one with a BB.
