WHITMIRE — Whitmire captured its first victory of the season with a 17-2 defeat of Landrum C Team. Peyton Crumpton was the winning pitcher striking out three over three innings. Cason English was two for four with three RBI and Jesse Thompson was two for two. Peyton Crumpton also added three RBI.
The Wolverines travelled to Dixie on Thursday for a JV/Varsity doubleheader with the Hornets.
Whitmire got off to a rough start, but battled back to make a contest out of Game One losing 13-7 to Dixie. Peyton Crumpton took the loss for the Wolverines. Ross Williams pitched well in relief. Peyton Crumpton and Treyton White had multiple RBI for Whitmire.
Whitmire dropped Game Two 6-5 to Dixie in extra innings. The Wolverines got 5+ innings of solid pitching out of Wyatt Crase. Cason English took the hard-luck loss for Whitmire. The Wolverines got multiple hits from Benji Wingard. They were also aided by two double plays and a diving catch by Andrew Hill.
The Wolverines also fell to Mid-Carolina by a score of 11-0. Treyton White was the losing pitcher.
