NEWBERRY — After suffering a loss to Queens, the Wolves bounced back with a 7-2 victory over Carson-Newman at the Oakland Tennis Center.

Newberry took a pair of doubles points with duo Elisa Aguirre and Lucia Davila taking the tight 8-5 decision in the second flight. Amanda Carrillo and Marta Gomar solidified a win at the No. 1 spot with the 8-6 score. Carson-Newman capped off doubles competition with the 8-6 decision to make it a 2-1 contest.

The Wolves continued their success in singles action winning five of the six matches to secure a conference victory.

Aguirre swept her opponent 6-0, 6-0 in the second flight to give Newberry the 3-1 edge. No. 1 Carrillo would follow closely behind with her own 6-3, 6-1 victory before Gomar clinched the match with a 7-5, 6-3 decision.

Carson-Newman would pick up a win before No. 5 Rebeca Martinez (1-6, 7-6, 10-6) and No. 6 Joelle Husle (8-7) each added a point apiece for the Wolves.
