NEWBERRY — Newberry was unable to overcome a Royals’ lead to fall 8-1, snapping a nine-game win streak stretching back to Feb. 17.

Queens remained perfect in doubles action with duo Amanda Carrillo and Marta Gomar falling 8-6 in a tight first flight. No. 2 Elisa Aguirre and Lucia Davila suffered an 8-5 defeat, while pair Joelle Husle and Rebeca Martinez finished 8-3.

Aguirre lost a 6-2, 6-3 decision at the No. 2 spot, while Gomar’s 7-6, 6-3 defeat in the third flight clinched the win for the Royals, their first in conference play this season.

Husle put the Wolves on the board with the 8-7 decision to close the contest.
