Whitmire falls to 4-3, 0-1 in region play.

The Whitmire Varsity Baseball team was blanked by South Aiken High by a score of 4-0 in the first matchup of the teams. Casey Stevens (1-2) pitched well against the 4A team throwing 5.1 innings and giving up only three hits. Justin Brannon pitched the final 2/3 inning. The Wolverines got singles from Chase Hood, Matthew Prather and Dillon Adams, but could manage little else offensively.

“Casey was outstanding on the mound. He has a tough mentality and gives you a chance to win. Out defense was much improved tonight. We did not swing it well and that will be a point of emphasis going into next week,” Martin said.
