ROCK HILL and DANBURY, Conn. — Newberry’s Haley Simonds has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference and 2018 South Atlantic AstroTurf Softball Player of the week for her efforts last week.

As the Wolves ride a seven-game win streak with six wins coming last week, Simonds led the way for them with a batting average of .682. She had at least one hit in each game making 22 appearances in the batter’s box.

Her week concluded with four doubles, two triples, two home runs, six runs scored and 18 RBIs. While she did much of her work on the offensive side of the diamond, she had two bouts in the circle for Newberry. Simonds picked up a save through her two innings of pitching and allowed just one hit.

She is currently ranked sixth in the SAC for her batting average, first for runs batted with a total of 30, and her two home runs place her just outside the top 20.
