NEWBERRY — The Wolves were unable to overcome a Royals’ lead and fell 7-2 in their home conference opener on Wednesday afternoon at the Oakland Tennis Center.

Queens swept doubles action with duo Angel Pizarro and Nikhil Mannepalli losing 8-5 in the first flight. No. 2 Edison Ambarzumjan and Jose Navarro suffered an 8-4 decision, while pair Jordan Monosky and Alex Amble finished 8-2.

Ambarzumjan’s 6-3, 7-6 defeat in the first flight clinched the win for the Royals. No. 4 Pizarro put the Wolves on the board with the three-set victory (7-5, 7-6, 10-6) while Monosky followed it up with a tight 8-7 win in the fifth flight.

Unable to over come the lead by the Royals, Newberry fell 7-2 in their home conference opener.
