HILTON HEAD — Newberry rounded out their trip to Hilton Head Island with an 8-1 victory over Tiffin Thursday afternoon.

The Wolves swept their opponents in Hilton Head including a 5-4 victory over nationally-ranked Florida Southern on Saturday.

Elisa Aguirre and Lucia Davila began doubles action in Newberry’s favor with the 8-2 edge in the No. 2 slot. The No. 3 pair of Joelle Husle and Rebeca Martinez followed the performance with the 8-2 decision, while at first flight Marta Gomar and reigning AstroTurf SAC Player of the Week Amanda Carrillo capped off the sweep with the close 8-7 win.

Newberry continued to dominate heading into singles play with No. 6 Husle finishing first with the 6-0, 6-1 victory. Carrillo followed it up with her own 6-2, 6-3 decision, clinching the match for the Wolves at the No. 1 slot.

Aguirre and Davila gave Newberry another set of wins at 6-0, 6-2 and 6-0, 6-4, respectively to make it 7-0. Gomar finished off the afternoon with the tight 7-6, 7-5 decision.

Tiffin picked up a lone win in singles to avoid the sweep.

The Wolves would also take the 7-2 decision over Ferris State in Hilton Head.
