Whitmire baseball updates

WHITMIRE — Whitmire dropped their regular-season opener by a score of 9-5 at Mid-Carolina. Chase Hood started on the mound for Whitmire striking out 4 in 3.1 IP. Noah McCarley (0-1) got the Loss in relief. Whitmire was led by Casey Stevens (2 for 3, 3B, RBI) and Bailey Holloman (2 for 3, RBI) at the plate.

The Wolverines defeated Newberry High by a score of 6-5 to remain perfect at home. Justin Brannon (1-0) got the win in relief of starter Carson Gaffney. The Wolverines were led by Chase Hood (2 for 4, 3B, 2 RBI), Bailey Holloman (2 for 4, RBI) and Alan Stanely (2 for 3).

Whitmire rallied to score three in the sixth inning, highlighted by a Bailey Holloman fielders choice to score Hood.

The team defeated Greenwood Christian by a score of 4-3 on Thursday afternoon. The Wolverines got a solid performance from starter Freshman Casey Stevens. Stevens threw five innings giving up one ER. Dillon Adams got the Save (one) pitching the last two innings. The offense got single hits from Chase Hood, Casey Stevens, Bailey Holloman, Justin Brannon, Alan Stanley and Matthew Prather.
