SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. — The Newberry College women’s golf team shot a 318 in the second and final round of the Smokey Mountain Intercollegiate on Monday to finish in fifth place in their second event of the fall.

Marianna Monaco shot a 74 (+2) in Monday’s second round, helping the Wolves to their lowest team score of the five rounds played this early in the season. Monaco completed the event with a 155 (+11) to finish in seventh place overall.

Nabila Inak and Karly Mims tied for 15th place in the individual standings at 158 (+14). Inak shot an 80 on Monday, while Mims shot a 78. Annabelle Dallery shot a two-round total of 168 (+24) to finish in 28th place, while individual participant Taylor Lance shot 178 to place 37th and Mariam Colon finished 38th with a 183.

The Wolves have consistently improved in the season’s early events, with both rounds at Sevierville this week setting a season best. Newberry will now have two weeks at home for the Wolves to continue to work on their game. The next event for the scarlet and gray will be Lincoln Memorial’s Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate on October 5-6 at the Panther’s Run Golf Links in Ocean Isle Beach, N.C.
