Wolves succeed at SAC Indoor Championship

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Wolves saw much success at the South Atlantic Conference Indoor Championships, with many athletes placing in the top 10.

Kayshon Wright headed the pack with a fourth-place finish. Wright threw a 14.86 in the weight throw, a few centimeters shy of his school record,14.94. He finished ahead of many Queens’ University participants, with the Royals earning the top spot in the tourney.

Granger Garrison ran a personal best and recorded a school record in the 400m dash with 52.31 seconds. Sophomore James Glenn placed ninth in the 60m dash, with a 7.05 seconds finish.

Wynston Andrews and Devon Fluellen both had finishes in the top 10 of the triple jump event. Andrews received a sixth-place honor after going 13.24 meters, while Fluellen would take home the eighth-place spot with a 12.71 distance. Freshman Marzell Jackson would follow right behind his teammate in ninth.

For the women, freshman Cassie Poulard finished in the seventh-place spot in the 60m hurdles. She ran the 60m hurdles in 9.5 seconds , setting a school record. In the 3000 meter run, Hayden Francis brought in a tenth-place finish of her own. Jalyn Dockery ran her own best in the 60m dash, with a blazing 7.97 seconds. She also set the university record in the 200 meter dash, clocking in at 27.43 seconds

Taylor Wildes threw a personal best and school record in the weight throw and ended the tourney placing eleventh. Gari Forehand and Jada Jennings rounded out the bunch, both Forehand throwing her personal best in shot put, 10.08 meters. However, Jennings finished in front of her teammate at 10.27 meters, sitting at the tenth-place spot.
