MCCORMICK — The Lady Wolverines traveled to McCormick to finish off the regular season region schedule and lost a closely contested game.

“Whitmire missed a lot of opportunities in the paint and were unable to overcome the excess free throws that McCormick was given. The girls played beautifully in the first half and were able to obtain a 10 point lead before getting sloppy with the ball, and defensively to allow McCormick to crawl back in to the game before taking the lead with about two minutes to go,” said Head Coach Chaz Adams. “The girls played hard and I am extremely proud of their effort and hustle. We also shot free throws extremely well and had more assists than normal.”

The Lady Wolverines were led in scoring by Raegan Kendrick with 13. She was followed by Alexus Sanders with 12, Taylor Peay six, Jazmine Curenton five, Hailee Robbins three, Chelsea Goggins two and Deja Livingston two.

The Lady Wolverines were led in rebounding by Peay with 11. Sanders added five, Goggins five, Curenton four, Raegan Kendrick three, Kaylynn Roche three, Robbins two and Harleigh McLaren one.

As a team, Whitmire had 14 steals, 12 assists and 8 blocks.

The Lady Wolverines finish as the number three team in the region and will host a playoff game Monday, February 12. The time and opponent will be announced at a later date.

The Lady Wolverines also traveled to Spartanburg to play High Point Academy over the weekend, but were unable to overcome turnovers and poor offensive execution and suffered the loss 52-19.
