NEWBERRY — With four games left in the regular season the Newberry High Bulldog basketball team has at least a one-game lead over everyone else in the region after their 74-37 victory over Woodruff Tuesday evening in the Scott Gym.

Never trailing during the game, the Bulldogs had a mere five-point lead after the first quarter…18-13…but went into the locker rooms eight minutes later with a 36-19 lead.

A 20-to-eight point run in the third quarter catapulted Newberry to having a 29-point advantage after the third quarter.

Twelve Bulldogs scored at least two points in the game, including Tyriq Goodman, who dropped in 12 points in the last three quarters.

Ny Downing (11), Nick Paul (10), Pat Paul (nine) and Jaleel Gilliam finished with six points.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Willis scored five points, Kajuan Wise, Darius Stephens-York, Terrell Rogers and Zay Chalmers (four apiece), and Tyreese Cromer scored three points.

The Newberry (12-5) scoring ended with the two points of Zymere Epps.
