COLUMBIA — The Whitmire wrestling team picked up two more wins Thursday night defeating 3A opponent Brookland-Cayce 39-30 and defeating 4A opponent Richland Northeast 36-18.
Dawson Davis, Christian McLaren, Garrett Davis, Alex Little, Terrance Gibson and Tymere White all won one or more head-to-head matches. Alex Little was voted Wrestler of the Night for the second consecutive time by his coaches and teammates.
“I’m very proud of this young team. There was a time when we would step into a 4A high school gym and get intimidated, but no more,” said Head Coach Jarrod King. “Now we show up and battle with first-class behavior. What more can a coach ask from his team?”
