NEWBERRY — While the Newberry High Lady Bulldogs picked up their 13th consecutive regional win over the weekend…they also picked up their first home loss of the season.

During the first game in Clinton, Kelsey Felks’ 28 points on the night were two more points than the entire Lady Red Devils scored as a team in Newberry’s 58-26 victory.

Newberry went on a 10-0 run to start the game as they had already built up a 21-5 lead after the first quarter.

Holding the Clinton team to single digits in each quarter…Clinton made all 12 of their field shots inside the arc, while going two-of-six from the free-throw line.

Newberry, meanwhile, made 25 field shots, including one three-pointer. They also converted seven of 19 free-throw attempts.

Felks scored 11 of her 28 points in the first quarter, while Rayanna Davis saw eight of her 15 points also come in the first stanza.

Meanwhile, Lindsey Ruff scored 10 points, Reghan Miller (three), and the Newberry scoring ended with the two points of Zacharia Epps.

Rescheduling their game with Irmo from earlier this month, the Yellow Jackets hit a shot at the buzzer in the Scott Gym to come away with the 58-56 victory.

Newberry did not take their first lead of the game until the early stages of the fourth quarter.

Irmo won the field shot category, 25-to-22, while Newberry had a four-to-three advantage in three-pointers.

Felks, Davis and Epps each scored 13 points for Newberry.

Miller finished with 11 points, Ruff (five), while the Newberry (11-3) scoring ended with the lone point of Titanna Garrison.
