Rebels welcoming Chapman High to town tonight

PROSPERITY — Looking to clinch their first win of the season, the Mid-Carolina High School Rebels are at home again as they face off against the Chapman High School Panthers tonight.

Head Coach Louie Alexander said this week has been about working on the team’s individual responsibilities and working on coverages.

“We’ve been working on mixing and disguising secondary coverages and individual responsibilities against zone read, gap responsibilities and defending the quarterback scramble,” Alexander said.

After coming up short against Clinton High School last week, Alexander added that throughout last week’s game the team showed effort, enthusiasm and didn’t quit late in the game, something he hopes will be brought to tonight’s game.

Offensively and defensively, the Rebels (0-7) are improving, according to Alexander, and the team has continued to work to match the Panthers’ uptempo offense.

“Chapman runs a no huddle, uptempo offense. Defensively, they are fundamentally sound. In order to win tonight, we will have to keep them off the field offensively and not give up the big plays. We have to sustain some drives and force some turnovers,” Alexander said.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
