LEXINGTON — The Newberry Academy Eagles are back for a new season and will take on the Northside Christian Academy Crusaders in the Eagles’ first away game of the season.

While this is the first game for the Eagles, it is the second for the Crusaders who are 0-1.

Last year the Eagles and the Crusaders had their first match up, which the Crusaders won.

“It is a new year so I hope we come out and set the tone for the entire year playing with intensity and fire,” said Benji Sease, head coach of the Eagles.

When it comes to offense, Sease said that the Crusaders have a similar strategy to the Eagles.

“They run the spread which is very similar to what we do. We have to be in position to make plays and play with our fundamentals. They have some quick players,” he said.

Typically the Crusaders run a four man front and the Eagles will need to be able to run their entire defense.

“Just because we run it once and we are not successful, we have to have confidence that we can come back to it and run it later with some success,” he said.

During practice this week Sease said they have been focusing on doing the little things right, because the big things will take care of themselves.

Kick off is at 7:30 p.m. in Lexington.
