NEWBERRY — Jaceree “Poppy” Caldwell, a 2016 Newberry High School football standout player, signed a national letter of intent on July 26 to attend Campbellsville University on a football scholarship this fall.

After graduating from Newberry High School in 2016, Caldwell enrolled at Jireh Prep in Matthews, N.C., were he was a dominant player leading the team in tackles and sacks.

“Caldwell has the ability to dominate the game with his athleticism and formidable style of play. He is definitely a game changer and a offensive coordinator’s nightmare” said Chuck Monroe, regional independent football recruiter who assisted Caldwell with his recruiting and has also recruited four other former Newberry Bulldogs to play out west in California.
