Adopt A Shelter Dog Month – October

Thanks to a great turnout at Newberry’s Oktoberfest, 13 puppies and 10 adult dogs were adopted at the event. There were lots of smiling faces and wagging tails, despite the rainy weather.

Shelter animals truly appreciate the attention that they have so missed and show it with love and happiness.

Rescued pets always seem to make the best pets of all. All my pets are rescued (found as strays and/or abandoned) and they have always shown immense love and happiness to have a real home and someone to play with them, make sure they are fed and watered properly and get medical care as needed.

Many animal advocate groups celebrate October as Adopt A Shelter Dog Month and actually every month should be Adopt A Shelter Dog or Cat Month. Many of them have been surrendered by their owners, for one reason or another, and they don’t understand Why they are not in their home, with their snuggly bed and all their precious toys.

It just takes some time, patience, understanding and lots of love to gain the trust of a Shelter animal and they will in turn reward you with years of loyalty, love and companionship.

Not all the dogs were adopted at Oktoberfest and there are always more coming in, almost daily.

Please visit the Newberry County Animal Shelter, 240 Public Works Drive (Hwy 34), Newberry and find your next Best Friend and Loyal Companion.

Sincerely,

Lorraine Bradley
