The Newberry Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees) is an organizations of young adults committed to improving their community through project based solutions.
The Jaycees usually host two service events a quarter, including raising funds for the state fundraiser Jaycee’s Camp Hope, a stay-away camp for people with Intellectual Disabilities.
The Newberry Jaycees provides networking, educational and career development opportunities through conferences, meetings and training sessions.
The Jaycees is designed for 18-40 year olds to interact and impact their communities in a positive manor while having fun.
The group was recently awarded Most Improved Chapter for 2017 by their state organization as well as an award for Membership Project for the Second Quarter. The Newberry Chapter also had an individual member awarded Member of the Quarter and won an award for outstanding Chapter President from the State Chapter.
The chapter has put on events ranging from hosting the Newberry Christmas Parade, to a sponsoring local Little League teams, and hosting educational workshop on cooking and etiquette, along with social outing to places like the Carolina Cup and the Boykin Christmas Parade.
Members can also attend State, National and International conferences as a part of Junior Chamber International to develop professionally and build a larger network.
Meetings are usually the second and fourth Monday of every month, at 6:30 p.m. at 2447 Wilson Road. Newberry, S.C. and are always open to the public. Interest people can contact the Chapter President Joseph Berry at Joseph.T.Berry@gmail.com.
