In the past few weeks, I have noticed that in the paper, page after page has arrests in Newberry from drugs and drug related crimes. Most of these are young people. I guess I knew that this was a problem, but it showed me how big it really is and I am sure this is just a drop in the bucket. When we look at these names some may say different than what I’m about to say. You know when the people brought the prostitute to Jesus and said they caught her in the act, they wanted her stoned to death, but Jesus told that whoever was without sin to cast the first stone. Yes this is a terrible thing that these folks have gotten caught up in. My thoughts are that we need to pray for each person. These are all children of God as any of us are and we need to pray for the families as well. They also have mothers and fathers and grandparents that are very worried about the path they are on, I am sure. This not only affects the person, but the family. This problem does not care what walk of life you come from, where you are rich or poor where you are educated or not so. A prime example of how we should be is Billy Graham’s casket, it was made by convicted inmates. Did he judge them? No, he let them know that we all are sinners in need of forgiveness and that God loves them. God does not pick and choose who should be given his saving grace, so why should we. Billy Graham made a big difference. Are we going to sit down and do nothing? I think we need to do something. Like pray. So will you please join me and let’s be about building God’s kingdom by be in earnest prayer for all who are struggling with drug or alcohol addiction. Prayer changes things. The Bible says we only need the faith the size of a mustard see and that is very small. Pray for our schools, our children, the teachers, the law enforcement officers. Prayer does change things!! Will you join with me?

Thank you,

Mary Catherine Reynolds
