NEWBERRY COUNTY — Piedmont Technical College will hold two summer commencement exercises on Aug. 4.

Commencement exercises will begin at 3 p.m. for health science and nursing graduates. A ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. for Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, business and information technology, industrial technology and engineering technology graduates.

Both commencement exercises will be held in the James Medford Family Event Center at Piedmont Technical College in Greenwood.

Due to limited seating, tickets will be required for all guests attending the graduation ceremony. Each ticketholder, including children, will be entitled to one seat.

In recognition of Piedmont Technical College’s 50th anniversary, the commencement address will be presented by graduate Dr. Mary Holloway.

Holloway has served as Associate Vice President for Student Development Services (SDS) at Midlands Technical College since March 2013.

During her 34-year tenure at Midlands, Holloway has served as counselor, coordinator, and associate dean in Counseling and Career Services, Director of Campus Life, and Assistant Vice President for Student Development Services.

Holloway is a licensed professional and nationally certified counselor. She is also a certified campus student conduct officer and mediator.

Originally from McCormick, Holloway is a 1976 graduate of Piedmont Technical College majoring in Human Services. She also earned her bachelor’s degree from Lander College, her master’s degree from Clemson University and her Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina.

A special feature of commencement exercises will be recognition of top graduates from Abbeville, Edgefield, Greenwood, Laurens, McCormick, Newberry and Saluda counties.
