NEWBERRY COUNTY — The Newberry County Water and Sewer Authority recently received a request from a property owner on Indian Creek Road to see if the board would consider an extension of potable water on that road.

“The proposed extension is a six inch extension up Indian Creek Road up to the County line, the Laurens County line,” said Brent Richardson, manager of the NCWSA. “This gentleman is a resident. There is also a church on that road that has requested.”

There are about 35 existing residents on that road, and this is not on the list of existing projects for NCWSA. The estimated total project cost would be $259,860.

Richardson said he knew they would get two to three new customers right off the bat, but would probably not get anymore until residents started having problems with their wells.

“I make a motion that we accept this as information and add it to our project list for our staff to do further study,” said Board member Lewis Lee.

Board member Tim Nichols seconded the motion, and it was passed unanimously.
