NEWBERRY – The Newberry Police Department congratulates Lt. Clay McConnell on being selected to attend the 2026 U.S. Attorney’s Office Narcotics Command School.
The prestigious weeklong program provides intensive leadership training for law enforcement officers who supervise narcotics units. The curriculum focuses on investigative techniques, emerging national narcotics trends, and leadership strategies.
Police Chief Kevin Goodman nominated Lt. McConnell for the program. He was selected from a competitive pool of candidates from across South Carolina by members of the U.S. Attorney’s Office Law Enforcement Coordination Committee (LECC) Drug Sub-Committee.
This year’s class included 30 officers representing 27 law enforcement agencies from across the state. The program was held July 27-31, 2026, at the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law in Columbia.
