PROSPERITY — The Mid-Carolina Middle School Cheerleaders have completed their 2015 competition season. The team’s routine included a music and cheer portion. The team is judged on the difficulty and execution of stunts, pyramids, dance, tumbling, and overall performance.
“Every year, I work with a brand new group of girls that have little to no experience, so to get them to this level is a huge commitment,” said Coach Stacy Folk. “I tell the girls all the time that we are competing against ourselves. As long as we improve on our score each time, we would have already won. I am extremely proud of the time and dedication that these girls put into the sport of competitive cheerleading. It is wonderful when their efforts are rewarded with a win.”
The MCMS Cheerleaders participated in four competitions and brought home one third place and three first place honors. Their latest accomplishment was winning first place at the Debbie Rogers Cheer Classic held at The Colonial Life Arena in Columbia.
Not only do the cheerleaders work hard to perform on the mat, they also strive to be the best representatives for their school. Along with practicing for competition, they practice for game-time. A lot of time and energy goes into each game.
The Mid-Carolina Middle School Cheerleaders are coached by Stacy and Jessica Folk.
“One of our main goals in our competitive team is to teach them the value of respect and leadership to help them grow as individuals outside of cheerleading. We also hope to teach that through commitment and dedication the girls can do anything they set their mind to,” said Stacy Folk.
