LEXINGTON — Auditions for speaking roles in an upcoming Christian film will be held Saturday at Lexington Church of God, 1228 Southlake Drive in Lexington.

A casting call sent out by the production company Northface Christian Films describes the project in the following manner:

“A young girl’s faith is tested when her parents are suddenly killed in a car crash and she is forced to move in with relatives who are non-believers. She finds herself in a new city, new school and no friends. She is a talented singer, who wants to worship God with her songs, but her uncle and others at school challenge her faith. Only one boy seems to see the greatness in her. She has to come to grips with either fitting in or following God, which may cost her more than just her faith.”

The auditions will be held from noon to 6 p.m. on a drop-in basis. The film’s writer/director Frankie Hutto encourages interested parties to bring a headshot as well as a resume with acting experience.

Applications are available for those who do not have an acting resume.

Although the bulk of the film will be shot in the greater Columbia area, several locations in and around Newberry will be featured. These include Faith’s house, church and a restaurant her parents visit just before the wreck.

Hutto said that an average role will involve three to five weekends of shooting out of the 10 weeks of total production.

Filming will take place on Friday nights and Saturdays to accommodate school and work schedules.

According to the casting call, “All Actors/Actresses will be compensated for their time. Compensation amounts will be based on film sales. Food and beverages will be provided while onset, no other expenses will be covered, including travel and hotel expenses.”
