NEWBERRY — Following last week’s announcement that Samsung Electronics Home Appliance (SEHA) facility, in Newberry, closed due to two employees testing positive for COVID-19, the facility has reopened today (April 6), according to a Samsung representative.

The Samsung representative said the facility was thoroughly cleaned Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with 1.5 million square feet being cleaned all weekend. The same representative also revealed that a third employee has tested positive for COVID-19, and said they were notified today.

“This employee was last in the building on Thursday and is asymptomatic. All employees that this employee was in contact with have been notified,” the Samsung representative said.

To date, three Samsung employees have tested positive for COVID-19. The Samsung representative said everyone who has been in contact with the positive employees have been asked to quarantine for 14 days.
