POMARIA — The town of Pomaria recently received help from a local Girl Scouts troop working to earn their community badge.

“The Girl Scouts contacted me and wanted to clean up our park as one of their projects. They did a great job, they cleaned the brush out of the creek, cleaned the tables and cleaned off the tables and benches,” said Mayor Darryl Hentz.

Kristy Graham, town clerk-treasurer, added that they cleaned the Blue Star Highway sign and that it looked much better. Hentz made a suggestion that it may be good to keep a list of projects in case they are asked again.

“It would be good to keep a list of projects on hand. We get calls from the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts from time to time,” he said. “Would be good to look at the list and give them options of things they could do.”

In other business, Hentz dropped off the project proposal for the upcoming Capital Project Sales Tax. Pomaria’s project would involve the old school building.

“We met the deadline, and now we wait until things kick off in February,” Hentz said.
