Oct. 31

7:30 a.m.-2 p.m.: St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 928 Boundary St. in Newberry, holds a yard sale in their parking lot.

1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m.: First Baptist Church holds a fall festival for the community in the grass lot across from the public library on the corner of Johnstone and Caldwell streets. Visit for more information.

5 p.m.-8 p.m.: Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Prosperity hosts a community trunk or treat and fall festival.

Nov. 1

2 p.m.: Bush River Missionary Baptist Church celebrates its 149th anniversary. The Rev. Danny Webb of Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Epworth is the guest speaker.

Nov. 2

2:30 p.m.: New Enoree Missionary Ministry celebrates World Day of Prayer at Liver River Baptist Church. The youth will be participating in the program this year. Church members are asked to give $5. Donations can be sent to Lillie Bates, 350 Wise St., Newberry.

Nov. 7

7 a.m.-11 a.m.: Lever Chapel A.M.E. Church, 376 Lever Chapel Church Road in Prosperity, holds a free clothing giveaway. Toys and household items also will be available.

7 a.m.-1 p.m.: St. Matthew A.M.E. Church, 6875 S.C. 219 in Newberry, holds a multi-church yard sale.

9 a.m.-1 p.m.: Holy Trinity Lutheran Church holds its 11th annual fall bazaar featuring crafts, homemade desserts, breads/jellies/jams, regular and onion pork sausage. White elephant sales are included. Breakfast sausage biscuits, homemade soups, sandwiches, cornbread and drinks will be available.

9 a.m.-1 p.m.: Lake Murray Presbyterian Church, 2721 Dutch Fork Road, holds its 12th annual Holiday Bazaar, sponsored by Lake Murray Presbyterian women. The Knit Wits will show off crocheting work and artists will display their crafts. Coffee and lunch will be served by the men of the church.

Nov. 8

10:30 a.m.: Calvary Baptist Church on SC 121 holds its annual Harvest Rally.

1:30 p.m.: Old Beaver Dam Baptist Church, 3458 Beaver Dam Creek Road, celebrates its 125th anniversary. Pastor Rinzee Stansberry of New Enoree Baptist Church is the speaker.

2 p.m.: James Hopewell Baptist Church observes its 128th anniversary. Dr. Ronald “Mickey” Byrd will be recognized. Pastor James Farr of Flint Hill Baptist will be the guest speaker.

Nov 14

4:15 p.m.: Hannah A.M.E. Church, 161 Deadfall Road in Newberry, celebrates the 17th anniversary of its male chorus. Call 803-924-3706 for information.

5 p.m.-7 p.m.: St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Prosperity sells country fried steak plates for $8 each, eat in or take out. Plates will include fried steak, rice and gravy, slaw, pickle, rolls and tea. Revivals/Meetings/Other Events

Trinity A.M.E Church hosts a Captain’s Choice golf tournament on Nov. 7 at the Newberry County Club to raise money to rebuild their church. Contact Cleophus Langford at 803-924-3246 for information.

Faith Deliverance Outreach Ministry, 14679 C.R. Koon in Newberry, holds a Holy Ghost Revival at 7 p.m. Nov. 6 and Nov. 7. Pastor Germain Wright from Daily Living Ministry in Columbia is the speaker.

Worship Services

Aveleigh Presbyterian Church, 1211 Calhoun St. in Newberry, holds worship services at 9:15 a.m. in the sanctuary immediately followed at 10:30 a.m. by Sunday School. Aveleigh Worship Center service begins at 11:30 a.m. in Truesdell Hall (gym).

Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Cross Hill holds intercessory prayer and Bible study at 7 p.m. Tuesdays, mid-week services at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and worship service every Sunday beginning with Sunday school at 10 a.m. and worship service beginning at 11:15 a.m.

Friendship Baptist Church, 8302 S.C. 121, holds Sunday school at 10 a.m., worship at 11 a.m. and weekly Bible school on Wednesdays at 6 p.m.

Macedonia Lutheran Church, 49 Macedonia Church Road, holds summer outdoor lakeside worship services on Lake Murray through Sept. 14. Holy Communion will be administered Aug. 17 and Sept. 14. New Beginning Christian Church, 1609 First St. in Newberry, has Sunday school at 9 a.m. and service at 10 a.m. Bible study at 6:30 p.m.

New Chapel UMC on Deadfall Road in Newberry has worship services at 9 a.m. and Sunday School at 10 a.m.

New Creation Church Family, 1310 Main St. in Newberry, holds worship service at 10 a.m. each Sunday.

New Hope Baptist Church on S.C. 121 in Newberry has Sunday school at 10 a.m. and worship at 10:45 a.m. except the fifth Sunday. Bible study is on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 1605 Main Street, holds its Sunday service at 10:30 a.m. with music and communion. Adult education will resume in September. Weekly service on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Springfield Place.

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 4056 St. Luke’s Church Road, has worship services at 10:30 a.m. beginning June 7. Sunday School will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Sweet Springs A.M.E. Church, 20502 U.S. 76 in Newberry, holds worship service at noon the first and third Sunday of each month.

• Sister Sister Community Outreach Ministry holds female youth and youth advisor and community youth ministry session at the Helena Community Center, 902 Giff St. in Newberry every first Saturday at 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. A light breakfast will be served.

Shiloh Outreach Baptist Church, 194 Maybinton Road in Whitmire, holds a community bible study at 6 p.m. every Tuesday.
