POMARIA — Dave Wilkerson (Pomaria resident) spoke before Pomaria Town Council last week to address concerns about Glymph Street, near his residence on Rest Street. Glenn Street, a county dirt road also runs beside Wilkerson’s residence.

Wilkerson came before Council to see what could be done about the amount of water coming onto his property.

Mayor Darryl Hentz said most of Wilkerson’s concerns appeared to be with the County, who he said would probably be a point of contact to start with.

To alleviate some of Wilkerson’s water problems, Hentz and Council discussed looking into cleaning the ditches out as a possible solution. Wilkerson said sometimes the ditches are filled with trash, beer bottles, etc.

“Contact the County about water concerns, look at cleaning some ditches out,” Hentz said.

In other business, Hentz reported that Old School renovations are moving along. Updates include floor work beginning last Thursday, air is now running in the building, doors have been put up and bathroom tile has been put in. Plumbing and sinks will soon be completed — dehumidifiers still need to be installed in the basement. Hentz added that they are also looking into potentially having outlets at the back of the stage.

“If it’s old construction and you see it needs painting, that’s something we’ll take on down the road with any other repairs,” Hentz said. “With all the projects, and this has happened in the past, the County has kind of put a stop to everything until they get to a point of seeing what’s done — what’s left. There’s still a possibility, if there’s enough left over, we can dress this front up, but we’ll have to wait and see.”

Other business:

• There is a pothole at Main Street and Holloway Street and a light out at the park and at Glymph Street and Holloway Street.
