NEWBERRY — The Newberry County Museum has named Sheridan Kate Murray as the new executive director.
Murray is from Asheville, N.C., and a graduate of Wofford College — where she earned a B.S in Environmental Studies and a B.A. in Art History. She has experience working with several museums including the Asheville Art Museum, the Spartanburg Art Museum, the Children’s Museum of the Upstate and the Chapman Cultural Center. In addition, she was involved in the establishment of Wofford’s Richardson Family Art Museum. Working with these museums has given her experience with exhibit planning, educational programming, marketing and communications.
Her immediate goal is to generate interest and excitement for the museum through social media and other forms of outreach while working with the curator on exhibit selection and presentation. She will be working closely with the cities of Newberry County, Newberry College and the County to insure that museum will be one of the best throughout the State.
