The Colonel Philemon Waters Chapter of the South Carolina Sons of the American Revolution presented Gordon the Outstanding Cadet Certificate and the Bronze JROTC Medal for his accomplishments in the schools military program. This certificate and medal recognizes the recipient’s endeavor to foster the principles of the “citizen soldier” exemplified by the Minutemen of the Revolutionary War.

McLane has demonstrated his dedication and leadership abilities through his three years in the JROTC Program. He is a member and team captain of both JROTC Raider Adventure Team and the JROTC Academic Team. This summer he will attend the JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge Camp at Fort Jackson. According to Tom Forte, president, Philemon Waters Chapter, SCSSAR, by presenting this certificate, the Sons of the American Revolution not only congratulate McLane for his achievement, but say thank you for setting an example for others to follow.
