Wreck fatality identified

NEWBERRY — Newberry County Coroner Laura Kneece has identified the victim of a fatal car crash that occurred on Friday, June 15.

Thomas Young Coleman, 24 of Saluda, died due to multiple blunt force injuries sustained from the collision, according to Kneece.

According to Lance Corporal Justin Sutherland of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the wreck happened at approximately 11:10 a.m. last Friday, 2.1 miles east of Silverstreet. Coleman was traveling east on S.C. 34 in a Ford Pickup when he crossed the center line and collided with a Tractor Trailer. Coleman’s vehicle continued until it ran off the road, overturning.

Coleman was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, where he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Sutherland said there will be no charges in this wreck.

This incident remains under investigation by South Carolina Highway Patrol and State Transport Police.
