DEA’s National Take Back Initiative

NEWBERRY — Have you ever wondered what to do with those medications hanging around in your medicine cabinet? If so the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office is offering a solution Saturday, April 28.

Project “Take Back” is a law enforcement effort to take unwanted and/or expired prescription drugs for safe disposal. DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) is partnering with the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office to conduct the 10th year of this National Take Back Initiative.

On Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office and the DEA will give the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs.

The service is free and anonymous and no questions will be asked.

In addition to this initiative, the sheriff’s office also provides a drop box in the lobby that is available to the public during normal business hours. This service is also free and anonymous and no questions will be asked.
