Boil water advisory issued

NEWBERRY — Newberry County Water and Sewer Authority (NCWSA) have issued a Boil Water Advisory to all customers southeast of Fairview Fire Station.

This advisory affects customers along Macedonia Church Road, Hollands Landing Road, Dreher Island Road, State Park Road and surrounding areas. Customers in this area should vigorously boil their water for at least one full minute prior to drinking or cooking.

A major line break at the intersection of Macedonia Church Road and Seibert Road resulted in a loss of pressure and service to customers in this area.

There has been no confirmed contamination of the system. However, because of the loss of pressure, the potential for contamination exists.

Therefore, as a precautionary measure, NCWSA advises the customers in this area to vigorously boil their water for at least one full minute prior to drinking or cooking until notified otherwise. Also, any ice made from water which has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes.

Water system personnel are currently working to restore pressure and service to the entire system. If you have any questions concerning this advisory, you may call NCWSA at (803) 276-7020.
