NEWBERRY COUNTY — This November there will be a statewide general election, those registered will be able to vote for officials on the state, national and local level.

On the county level, Kelly Nobles, Probate Judge, is running for reelection as a Democrat, she is running unopposed. Richard “Rick” Martin, State House of Representatives District 40, is running for reelection as a Republican, he is running unopposed. Travis Reeder and Henry “Buddy” Livingston are running for County Council District Seven and Three, respectively, as Democrats, both are running unopposed. Johnny Mack Scurry is running for County Council District Six, as a Democrat, he is running unopposed.

On the state level, Mark Hammond, incumbent, is running to be reelected Secretary of State as a Republican. Also running as Republicans for the office are Joshua Putnam, Nelson Faerber and Kerry Wood. Melvin Whittenburg is running for the position as a Democrat.

Curtis Loftis, incumbent, is running to be reelected State Treasurer, as a Republican. Also running are Rosalyn Glenn as a Democrat and Sarah Work in the American Party.

For Attorney General, incumbent Alan Wilson, Republican, is running for reelection. Also running as Republicans, Todd Atwater and William Herlong. Constance Anastopoulo is running for the position as a Democrat.

Molly Spearman, incumbent, is running for reelection for State Superintendent of Education as a Republican. Israel Romero is running for the position as a Democrat.

Hugh Weathers, incumbent, is running for reelection for Commissioner of Agriculture. David Edmond is also running for the position as a Green Party candidate, as is Chris Nelums as a United Citizens Party candidate.

Richard Eckstrom, Comptroller General incumbent, is running for reelection unopposed.

In the Governor’s Race, Henry McMaster, incumbent, who is finishing out Nikki Haley’s second term, is running for the office as a Republican. Also running as a Republican, Catherine Templeton, Kevin Bryant, John Warren and John Yancey McGill. Those running as Democrats, Marguerite Willis, James Smith and Phil Noble. Martin Barry is running as an American Party candidate. To date, none of the candidates have declared a running mate.

Those running for the U.S. House of Representatives District Three include Jeff Duncan, incumbent, as a Republican. Mary Geren and Hosea Cleveland are running as Democrats. Dave Moore is running as an American Party candidate.

For U.S. House of Representatives District Five, incumbent Ralph Norman is running for reelection as a Republican. Archie Parnell, Steve Lough, Mark Ali and Sidney Moore are running as Democrats. Michael Chandler is running as a Constitution candidate.

The statewide primaries will be held on June 12 and the general election will be Nov. 6.
