PROSPERITY — Town administrator Karen Livingston informed Prosperity Town Council that a Town of Prosperity Needs Assessment Public Hearing will be held on March 29 to solicit input on community needs and priorities for housing, public facilities and economic development. The meeting will be held at noon in the Civic Center Court Room, 250 School Drive, Prosperity.
During the hearing, the Town of Prosperity will provide the results of its draft needs assessment and the activities which might be undertaken to meet identified needs, including the estimated amount proposed to be used for activities that will benefit persons of low and moderate income.
The public hearing and the matters to be discussed are subject to the provisions of the Town of Prosperity’s Citizen Participation Plan, developed in anticipation of participation in the State of South Carolina’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, providing for the participation of the citizens of the Town of Prosperity in the planning and implementation of community and economic development projects which will involve CDBG funds.

In other business, Councilman Chad Hawkins reported that citizens are using the Grace Street parking lot as a “cut through” road, causing a safety issue. A decision will be made on how to correct this, possibly installing speed bumps or completely blocking off the Elm Street entrance.
Councilman Allen Gallman reported that signs will be posted at all ball fields that fields are to be used by scheduled Town of Prosperity practices and games only.
Other business:
• Crape Myrtle Trees will be planted along Main Street.
• The town’s budget workshop date has been scheduled for April 10 at 5:30 p.m.
• The Sidewalk Dedication is scheduled for Aug. 11. Plans will be announced later.
