Man arrested for burglary and assault and battery

PROSPERITY — A man has been arrested after breaking into a home, and assaulting a Prosperity resident on March 13.

According to Lieutenant Harry Bodiford, with the Prosperity Police Department, Calvin Stoudemire, 52, of Prosperity, broke into a home on Church Street, and attempted to strangle the resident, before striking him in the face with a metallic object. The resident was transported to Newberry County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Stoudemire was arrested shortly after at his home and charged with burglary first degree and assault and battery second degree.
