NEWBERRY – Brandy Chanel Davis, 36, of 2400 Main Street in Newberry, and Brandon L. Sturkey, 37, of 155 Alexander Road in Whitmire, have been charged with drug violations in the city of Newberry, Chief Roy McClurkin said Thursday.

Davis was charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamines, second offense. Sturkey was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Officers with the City of Newberry Police Department and Newberry County Sheriff’s Office, acting on a complaint from within the community, executed a search warrant at 2400 Main Street in Newberry on Wednesday.

During the search of the residence, law enforcement found what they believed to be crystal methamphetamines, illegal pills and drug paraphernalia.

Both Davis and Sturkey were taken into custody and transferred to the Newberry County Detention Center. A bond hearing will be scheduled at a later date.

McClurkin said this is part of the department’s continuing effort to rid the city of illegal drugs.

“Our community efforts are paying off based on people in the community providing information on illegal activity in their neighborhoods,” he said.
