PROSPERITY — Coryn Renee’ Cooley was recently selected as a finalist in the 2018 Miss Teen pageant. She is the daughter of Chief Master Sergeant (USAF) Scott Cooley and Jessica Cooley, granddaughter of Lt. Col. (USAF, Retired) Thomas Saunders and Susan Saunders, all of Prosperity.

The final competition will take place on Sunday, February 25 in Charlotte, N.C., where she will be judged on personality, poise, interviewing skills and academics.

Coryn Cooley is currently a junior at Mid-Carolina High School where, after moving to three different states during the current school year, she maintains a 3.4 GPA in all AP and Honors classes. She has completed college freshman courses with Brigham Young University and University of Nevada-Las Vegas (UNLV), where she also played with the UNLV Flute Ensemble as an invited guest member.

Cooley is considering applying for acceptance to the United States Air Force Academy. Currently she is enrolled in the “Project Lead The Way” program for engineering and plans ultimately to become a NASA Engineer. The USAF “Tops in Blue” also recognized her as a “Hometown Hero” for her local community service work.

Throughout her life as the daughter of an active duty military member, she has lived in many different places, including Fort Walton Beach, Florida; Warner Robins, Georgia; Fairbanks, Alaska; Great Falls, Montana; Las Vegas, Nevada and now in Prosperity on Lake Murray.
