The Newberry County Sheriff’s Office reported the following:

• Nicholas Charles Ellison, 35, of 1314 Pearl St., Newberry, was charged with attempt to possess a controlled substance on May 29. Ellison attempted to purchase Sudafed from CVS in Newberry. The purchase would have been in excess of nine grams purchased for a 30-day period.

• Brian Eugene Knox, 33, of 187 Beagle Drive, Clinton, was charged with attempt to possess a controlled substance on May 27. Knox attempted to buy Sudafed from Walmart in Newberry. The purchase would have been in excess of nine grams for a 30-day period.

• Moses Edwards, 55, of 1601 Assembly St., Columbia, was charged with simple possession of marijuana and public intoxication on May 29. While officers were conducting a patrol in Little Mountain, they noticed Edwards staggering in the roadway. They spoke with him and asked where he was going. Edwards told officers he was going to the bus stop to head back to Columbia. When asked how much he had to drink, Edwards said two 24-ounce beers. Edwards was placed under arrest and when asked if he had anything else on his person, he handed officers 2.3 grams of marijuana.
