NEWBERRY — Destiny Lemons and Kathryn Wilbanks, were respectively crowned Miss Newberry 2018 and Miss Newberry Outstanding Teen 2018 on Nov. 5.

Four contestants from Newberry College vied for the Miss Scholarship: Destiny Lemons, freshman and winner, Matalyn Mills, freshman and first runner up, Courtney Green, sophmore and Keamari Hinton, feshman.

Four area high school students competed for the Miss Newberry Outstanding Teen scholarship: Kathryn Wilbanks, Newberry Academy, winner, Lauryn Wilson and Destinee Taylor of Newberry Academy and Elizabeth Hunter, Mid-Carolina High School.

The ladies raised money for the Children’s Miracle Network, gave a voice to a personal charitable platform and worked to demonstrate strong leadership qualities through academics, athletics, talent and communications.

The winners will be ambassadors and role models to Newberry and will represent Newberry in the June 2018 Miss South Carolina and Miss South Carolina Outstanding Teen competitions. Each will continue to raise dollars to support the Children’s Miracle Network and will be seeking the community’s continued support.
