WHITMIRE — Get ready, Whitmire: The Jaycees will once again host the annual Party in the Pines this Thursday through Saturday on Main Street in Whitmire.
The fun will kick off around 6 p.m. Thursday with Gospel Night on Main Street. Amy Silvers with the Whitmire Jaycees said the entertainment will last until about 11 p.m. Thursday.
“Gospel night is considered family night,” Silvers said. “My favorite part is seeing all the families there together with their kids smiling and spending time with one another.”
More entertainment will be downtown from 6 p.m. to midnight Friday including performances from Finally Friday and Just John DJ.
The parade will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, the final day of the event. Following the parade, vendors will set up downtown along with rides for children. Christianna Gilliam, also with the Jaycees, said they have vendors ranging from food, games and novelty toys.
Whitmire’s Royal Regiment Band will have a dunking booth set up and Silvers said they are looking for volunteers.
Bracelets and tickets will be sold for the rides being provided by Palmetto Amusements, but Silvers said they won’t know the cost of the bracelets or individual tickets until the company sets up Thursday.
More local entertainment will include the band Flashback, a show band that plays a variety of music.
Parade forms are available in Whitmire at the Piggly Wiggly, Roche Pharmacy, Town Hall and Thomas’ Grocery and Grill.
Silvers said each parade participant will be given a line-up number. Those interested in participating can show up as late as the day of the parade and be entered.
Silvers and Gilliam said the planning process begins in January when the applications are finalized. Party in the Pines is funded through vendors fees and some sponsors.
“We automatically started sending out applications and looking at bands,” Silvers said.
