PROSPERITY — Derek Senn was presented with the BSA Eagle Scout Award during a ceremony held July 16 at St. Philip’s Lutheran Church.

He is a rising senior at Mid-Carolina High School where he participates in the football and track programs.

While in scouts, he has earned 27 merit badges, was elected to the Order of the Arrow and earned the Camping and Aquatics Segments of the National Outdoor badge.

He has served the troop as Assistant Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, worked on the PLC committee.

Senn also participated in special trips and hikes to earn Historic Trails Award, Cowpens National Battlefield Trail Award, Star Fort Historic Trail Award, Colonial Williamsburg Trail Award, Historic Jamestowne Award, and the Yorktown National Battlefield Trail Award. He successfully completed and earned the Mile Swim and BSA Scout Lifeguard Award.

For his Eagle Service project he worked with Blood Connections for a community blood drive. Through his planning and work the troop collected 34 pints of blood. Senn currently serves Troop 76 as Junior Assistant Scoutmaster.

During the service Senn presented to his grandfather, Wayne Black, the Eagle Scout Mentor’s pin, his stepfather Greg Hare the Dad’s pin and his mother, Katie Hare, the Eagle Scout Mother’s pin.
