NEWBERRY — Franklin Miller’s Fifty-Something, a retrospective illustrating 50 years of making art, will be on display in the Wessels Library Art Gallery on the campus of Newberry College through Oct. 10.

A drop-in wine and cheese reception will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 28 in the Wessels Library Gallery, 2100 College St. in Newberry. The reception and exhibit are open to the public.

The exhibit covers a variety of media and spans nearly five decades of making art. The exhibit includes works produced in some very diverse geographic areas of the country as well — from New York state to Massachusetts to South Carolina.

Over the span of his career as an artist, Miller has worked with distinguished artists in workshops and classes such as the noted Daniel Greene at Greene’s New York-based studio.

Miller, probably best known as a portrait artist, and his wife Barbara have lived in Newberry since 1992.

Gallery hours are 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and 4 p.m. to 11 p.m Sunday.
