NEWBERRY— Start your weekend off right on Friday, October 11 in Memorial Park in Downtown Newberry at the Groove ‘n Brew Fall Music Series.

The Newberry Downtown Development Association had so much fun rocking out in Downtown Newberry earlier this year, that a Groove ‘n Brew Fall Music Series is being held to keep the party going. These free live music events will be held in Memorial Park in Downtown Newberry from 5-8 p.m. on the following dates: Friday, October 11, Saturday, November 2, and Saturday, November 16.

Center Lane, a classic rock band out of Columbia, will be the featured band on Friday, October 11, which also kicks off Newberry College’s Homecoming Weekend. Parents and students are invited to come out to this fun concert in the park. The Newberry Downtown Development Association will sell beer, wine, sodas and water as well as snacks. Steelhorse Smokehouse will also sell hot barbeque sandwiches.

BlackCat Sunshine, a top 40 rock band with female vocals, will headline at the November 2 date. Carlton’s Jazz Quintet will play at the November 16 date, which will also coincide with the Holiday Open House and Wine Walk. All concerts in the park are free and open to the public.

“We are very excited to bring folks Downtown to have fun with their friends and neighbors. We want to encourage everyone to come listen to the free live music and then venture out to our amazing restaurants and bars in Downtown Newberry.” Aimee Talbot, president of NDDA, said. “We are very thankful to our sponsors, The Standard on Main and Venture South, for helping make these events happen.”

Groove ‘n Brew is intended as a fundraiser for the Newberry Downtown Development Association (NDDA) to pursue economic development initiatives, such as strengthening our small business community through education, networking and promotion, development of upstairs spaces to increase foot traffic downtown, and advocating for change with City and County Leadership. NDDA proposes it is time for the community to come together to help usher in the next revitalization phase of downtown Newberry.
