NEWBERRY COUNTY — South Carolina 4-H recently held is annual State Congress, the pinnacle event for senior aged 4-Hers.

Youth stayed on Clemson University’s campus and participated in service projects, heard speakers, engaged in hands on learning activities, and attended the annual Clover Ball — where youth from around the state where recognized for their outstanding achievements.

“Sarah Buford and Lauren White represented Newberry County with poise, coming home with new memories and friends. During the event, our annual awards luncheon was also held to recognize winners of our state level projects. For the second year in a row, Rhett Lindler of Newberry County was recognized for his High Over All score in the Intermediate Advanced division of the SC 4-H Shotgun Program,” said Alana West, Newberry County 4-H Agent.“Turning ideas into action, 4-H youth are becoming everyday heroes who persevere through challenges to leave lasting, positive impacts on their communities. Through the work of caring mentors, 4-H – a positive youth development organization – is cultivating a growing number of America’s youth to lead us in a Revolution of Responsibility. Their commitment challenges us all to join the movement toward meaningful change.”

Newberry County 4-H offers programs, clubs and projects in animal agriculture and veterinary science, natural resources and the environment, gardening, leadership and citizenship, personal growth and development, and science, engineering and technology. Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service offers its programs to people of all ages, regardless of race, color, gender, religion, national origin, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital or family status and is an equal opportunity employer.
