NEWBERRY — Buford McCary Summer and John Neville Glover Jr., both of Newberry, were married Saturday, August 20, 2016, at “Pretty Place,” the outdoor chapel of YMCA Camp Greenville in Cleveland, S.C.

The 2 p.m. ceremony was followed by a 5 p.m. reception at the Upcountry History Museum in downtown Greenville.

The bride, “Buffy,” is the daughter of Sue and Henry Summer. Her maternal grandparents are Ethel Mayer and the late Neal Davis. Her paternal grandparents are the late Mary and Walter Summer. All are from Newberry.

The groom is the son of Mary and John Glover of Newberry. His maternal grandparents are the late Mary Lane and Ralph Williams of Newberry. His paternal grandparents are the late Frances and John Glover of Clinton.

The bride graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in geography. She is a Certified Financial Planner and tax preparer with Henry B. Summer and Company.

The groom graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in hotel, restaurant and tourism management. He is the owner/proprietor of The Grille on Main restaurant in Newberry.

The maid of honor was the bride’s sister, Janie Summer Kitchens, and the matron of honor was Jessica Draeger. John Glover, father of the groom, served as best man, and the groomsman was Jay Glover, brother of the groom.

Flower girls were Eleanor Kitchens, niece of the bride, and Petra Mannel.

The bride was escorted and given away by her father, Henry Summer.

Special music was provided by Michelle Williams, the groom’s aunt, and Munson Summer, the bride’s brother.

The ceremony was officiated by Pastor David Surrett of Central United Methodist Church in Newberry.

A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents on Friday evening at the Hyatt Hotel in Greenville. A Newberry reception was hosted by family on August 28.

After a honeymoon in Aiken, the couple is residing in Newberry.
